Swim Across America 2026

It's Swim Across America – Nantucket season again, which is the cause that I focus my charitable efforts to have a meaningful impact on my local community by supporting on-island cancer care services.

If you need a reminder of why this one matters to me: SAA is the program that built Nantucket's on-island cancer care program over the years — it even initially funded Ugne's position at the hospital.

At the office I started offering massage and bodywork services free of charge to cancer patients with the support of another local non-profit. At this point one to three people are coming each week to receive free care while they are going through treatment.

My involvement has grown a little every year. Even prior to Ugne working at the hospital, it started with me swimming their mile event and enjoying the breakfast sandwich. Then I brought a massage table to work on swimmers afterward. Then it was the 2-mile swim, then the whole LFW team massaging even more swimmers, and last year Kyle, Will, and Hannah joined in too.

This year everyone's back: Kyle, Will, and Hannah are swimming again, Kyle's also kayaking alongside me and my buddy Jim for our 2x2-mile relay swim, and the full LFW team will be working on swimmers after the event.

With all that participation comes fundraising — and now several of us could each use a little help. The grandkids, Kyle and Ugne each need to raise $500 each, and I’ve pledged to raise $3,000 dollars for the distance event. Please consider giving a little (or a lot) to support your favorite grandchildren:

Thank you for backing us every year. It means a lot.

Love,
Brandon
