Ways to Give Back on Nantucket
We are passionate about giving back to others and offering kindness into our community. The holiday season brings out the spirit of giving and many local charities have great opportunities to help those in need through volunteering, donating, and gift programs. Explore some of the different ways you can give back on Nantucket this holiday season.
Nantucket Cottage Hospital
Whether you wish to support the annual fund, our campaign, or a specific area of the hospital, there are many ways to make a gift. For questions about philanthropy at Nantucket Cottage Hospital, please call the Foundation Office at (508) 825-8250.
Nantucket Conservation Foundation
The Nantucket Conservation Foundation is a member-supported organization that does not receive any governmental assistance or tax revenue for its funding. The success of our efforts depends entirely upon voluntary contributions from individuals who share our concern for the Island’s natural beauty and its future. Each and every gift is important and helps to sustain the Foundation’s mission.
Artist Association of Nantucket
The Artists Association of Nantucket is a 501(c)3 non-profit and membership organization that fosters the development of island artists and encourages the growth of Nantucket as an art colony. We are grateful for any financial support and encourage you to join as a member, purchase art in the Joyce & Seward Johnson Gallery, take our art classes, or attend one of our fund-raising events. Together we keep Nantucket's art community vital.
A SAFE PLACE
A Safe Place is the only agency on Nantucket focused on prevention and survivor services for those who have experienced domestic or sexual violence. They seek volunteers for a variety of activities including clerical tasks, delivering brochures and posters, staffing outreach tables, fundraising, court advocacy and safe home providers. Training is required for some but not all positions. Visit their website or e-mail info@asafeplacenantucket.org for more information.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY NANTUCKET
Volunteers are welcome to participate in all areas of Habitat, a worldwide nonprofit organization dedicated to providing an opportunity for families in need to own affordable housing. Homes are built in partnership with families who do not have the financial means to build or purchase a home through conventional financing. For more information call (508) 325-8912 or write to 2 Greglen Ave., PMB 54, Nantucket, MA 02554.
ELDER SERVICES: MEALS ON WHEELS
Seasonal volunteers needed to deliver meals to the island’s home-bound elderly. If you can spare an hour a week, call (508) 228-4647. Volunteers also needed to wash lunch dishes Monday through Friday at the senior dining center. Also, the Senior Training and Employment Program has training options and job possibilities for income-eligible people 55 and older. Call (800) 244-4630 or (508) 394-4630 for more information.
