Improving Mind, Body and Spirit

A NEW YEAR - A NEW YOU

By Lindsay Pykosz

Contributing Writer The team at Lavender Farm Wellness works to improve how the mind and body function through a variety of services, classes and supplements that ultimately help to achieve health and wellness goals.

“How is my mind and body functioning?” said Brandon Jellison, who started Lavender Farm Wellness at 6 West Creek Road in June 2020. “That really builds in a practicality to it, a usefulness, and creates relevance to someone’s current situation.”

Jellison is the lead massage therapist and bodyworker at Lavender Farm, and has 20 years of experience. He is also a holistic health coach, meditation instructor and personal trainer.

His passion for massage therapy began in 1997 when he studied with master teacher Dub Leigh, the founder of Zen Body therapy. He attended the Boulder College of Massage Therapy in Boulder, Colo.

Jellison is joined on the Lavender Farm staff by Kim LaRue, a reflexologist and Reiki master; Sarah Todd, former chef at Via Mare who is now a yoga and mindfulness instructor; Stan Hope, Reiki master; and Ugne Aleknaite, Jellison’s wife and a certified functional medicine practitioner who works in a collaborative way to find the root of imbalance.

“We’re looking to make an impact on people’s lives, to foster a healthy culture,” Jellison said of his team. “It takes so may different people and services.”

The team has launched a new membership opportunity that allows clients to take advantage of many of the services provided. For $59 per month, people are offered weekly group coaching sessions with Aleknaite, a functional movement assessment, coaching support, free community and online classes, a 10 percent discount on services and a 10 percent discount on medical-grade supplements.

“We’ll look at how they’re moving, talk with them about their goals and support them getting there,” Jellison said.

A variety of community classes are available each week, including Tuesday meditation, Reiki share on the second Monday of each month, cold plunges in Nantucket Harbor each Sunday and wellness workshops on the first Monday of each month. The next scheduled workshop is a couples massage with Jellison and Aleknaite Feb. 1.

The cold plunges, held all winter from Jetties Beach, have multiple health benefits, both mentally and physically, Jellison said, including strengthening the circulatory system and burning fat.

Jellison has also launched a wellness app that provides access to wellness professionals on Nantucket, from massage to meditation, in one easy-to-access location. It includes those other than the Lavender Farm Wellness core team, he said.

The Lavender Farm name is all about getting to a place of ease and a place where people can attend to their health and wellness, Jellison said. The West Creek Road space is bright and welcoming, and a variety of safety procedures have been implemented to make sure the staff and clients are as comfortable as possible during the coronavirus pandemic. Before attending a class or session, clients are asked to complete a brief COVID-19 questionnaire and they will have their temperature taken before their scheduled appointment.

“If there was one wellness service, class or product that would help everyone feel and be healthier, then that’s what we would offer,” Jellison said.

“However, that’s just not the case, so we’ve been assembling an amazing team of wellness professionals who walk their talk when it comes to living healthy lifestyles.”
